Both job seekers and employers are showing great interest in Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure.
Indeed.com, a career site, analyzed two years of Web search data and found that AWS and Azure skills were in high demand. The site receives over 200 million unique visitors every month and published its findings this week.
AWS was especially popular with a 98 percent increase in job-seeker search volume year-over-year. This puts AWS in second place behind searches for the React JavaScript Library, which saw year-over-year growth of over 300 percent.
AWS is the most popular cloud platform in the industry, with a market share that is higher than the five closest competitors combined. This explains why its rapid growth in demand.
According to Indeed.com data, employers were also increasingly looking for AWS skills, with 40% year-over-year growth in AWS search among hiring companies.

Azure is third behind AWS, and also happens to be AWS’ closest cloud rival in terms market share. According to Indeed.com, Azure searches among job seekers increased by 51 percent over the past year.
However, Azure is more popular among employers than AWS. According to Indeed.com’s data, companies that hire for Azure increased their searches year-over-year by 62 percent.
According to Indeed.com’s report, “In our list two cloud operations — Amazon Web Services (MS Azure) — round out the top 3 on the job seeker side and also posted double digit gains on employers side.” Cloud is on the rise because many businesses are increasing their use of offsite computing and storage. This makes cloud developers who are experienced a must-have for many employers.
