ChannelCon Online is Coming!
Nancy Hammervik, executive vice-president of industry relations at CompTIA joined Gary Bixler on The Biz Tech Podcast for a look at what attendees can expect at ChannelCon Online. This event offers three days of learning, business strategies, networking, and best practices that begin Tuesday, August 4. Register now.
“We have had a lot more time to plan the agenda for ChannelCon. Now, it is exclusively online and everyone can expect the same quality of ChannelCon. ChannelCon’s focus is different than other industry events, particularly in the channel. It’s not primarily about partnering, although that is an intrinsic value of ChannelCon. Instead, we lead with education and industry insight. All of this will still be part ChannelCon Online with three days worth of programming and content for listeners.
Volley also spoke ChannelCon Online with hosts and CompTIA research analyst Carolyn April and Seth Robinson giving their perspectives on the upcoming event. Seth and Carolyn, who will each be hosting ChannelCon Online’s individual days and moderating panels respectively, gave an overview of what to expect. Here’s what Carolyn had a to say about the agenda for ChannelCon Online Day 1 on Tuesday, August 4.
“This is more about the business track than it is the technology track… These solution providers, MSPs, vendors will be part of a lot the discussion that’s taking place that day. The second panel that I will moderate is more in-depth, as it ties together with some of our research and external research. It’s about partner experiences trends. CompTIA ISAO – Introduction
On the Biz Tech Podcast, Miles Jobgen (director of the CompTIA IT Security Community) and MJ Shoer (executive director, CompTIA ISAO), discussed the CompTIA Information Sharing and Analysis Organization. The CompTIA ISAO provides critical threat intelligence to technology vendors and MSPs, solution providers as well as integrators, distributors, business tech consultants, and their customers. This “behind-the scenes” look will give you an insight into the CompTIA ISAO’s future as well as information about how to join and the benefits.
“We want to make [solution providers] more resilient and capable. We are providing them with the information they need to help secure their clients. We have all heard horror stories about MSPs being hacked and used to inject ransomware into client bases. Let’s face it, if this continues, it could cause irreparable damage to our industry.”MJ Shoer Executive Director, CompTIA ISAO

The Tech Industry’s Impact of the Pandemic
On Volley this month, Carolyn joined Seth and CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux to have an in-depth conversation about the future of technology and business. Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused massive disruption, there are also opportunities to rethink how things work and how technology can be used more strategically. Todd discusses the transition from remote work, the ripple effect of changes across industries and the skills tech workers need to succeed in the future.
“I don’t believe we’ll see any major new technologies emerge due to [the pandemic]. I believe that many of the essential elements for companies to succeed and be successful were already in place because the technology was already used. This has validated the cloud a million-fold, this entire experience. Access to your information off-premise, apps being hosted in the Cloud, all these things have been in place for years. CompTIA CEO Todd Thibodeaux
